Hairnets: could a beanie suffice?
Answer: When it’s a hairnet! Not any old hairnet but a large, loose, flopsy one that’s standard issue with safety helmets. Miner’s helmets that is.
Everyone navigating the dark network of tunnels at Wonthaggi’s State Coal Mine must don the safety gear. Though, it’s only adults that are likely to hit their head on the low hung pillars during a tour.
These young girls, sitting in the break-out lunch alcove, were captivated experiencing the coalface first-hand.
I wonder whether a Simply Joolz beanie would or could become standard wear for visitors to this historic mine closed in the 1960’s?
Perhaps I’ll keep my inner most thoughts in the dark.
